Guérison
(Healing)
Narrative concert combining contemporary music, improvisation and video.
HEALING is a work by Joane Hétu (lyrics and music) for the Ensemble SuperMusique (ESM) and the Joker Choir. This musical creation unfolds in three movements and addresses the themes of hardship, pain, resilience, and ultimately, healing.
"These themes are particularly close to my heart because of a personal event: in 2021, my daughter, then 30 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent 18 months of intensive treatment until eventually being in remission. This personal ordeal is the emotional core of the work. Although this event is personal, I am convinced that the emotions and reflections it evokes have universal significance. All families experience their own dramas and tragedies, and it is to this shared experience that my work addresses itself. And for a long time, I have felt the desire to create a large-scale work in the unique language of contemporary music." — Joane Hétu
To bring these themes to life, Guérison offers a sensory experience combining storytelling, music, poetry, theater, and visual art.
